Blossom

We've just been up to Sainsburys Chavcentre to grab a few essentials (ie fags and booze) and as we were leaving the car park, we couldn't help but notice the blossom on the trees around. Yes, the carrier bag trees are starting to lose their blossom, the delicate shades of white plastic replaced, or at least disguised, by leaves. Roll on the autumn so their bedraggled fruits can be seen once again!

He's Back...

Tonight, I could write on many subjects. I could cover all the issues I tried to cover last week, and then lost when this thing failed to save them (although I now see a "recover post" option on this page), or the new Pope, or the ongoing General Election campaign. However, chubby bushcraft wanker Ray Mears has a new series on the telly, and clearly, therefore, I have to write about that. Tonight, he made a canoe out of natural materials (half a forest, by the look of it), which in coming programmes he will no doubt paddle around the wilderness, being on his own (apart from the camera crew, and probably a few local guides).

I'm sure getting closer to nature, and being able to look after yourself is not a bad idea, after all, who knows, anybody could one day get lost in the jungle on the way to work; and some of the technology of "primitive" people is really quite clever, but frankly, what's so special about a bloke who feels a need to go off into the woods on his own and get in touch with himself? Plenty of people manage to do this, even in urban environments, and without them, the legend of the Porn Fairy may never have developed.

Cross

I just spent ages write sh*t loads, and then this m****rf****g thing lost it. I am not very happy, in fact, I am quite cross. Grrrrr.

Pain

My back has "gone" - I'd love to write more (and there is plenty to write about at the moment) but I can't because I can't sit still for long enough.

The Smoke

Gave the gardening a miss today, and did something far more exhausting - we drove down to London for a days sight seeing with my son. We managed to walk miles, see most of the major sights and catch a bit of sun too. I'm a touch concerned that my son's major memory of the event in the future will be how far we walked and how much his legs hurt, but overall a successful trip. It does smell a bit though.
