A colleague of mine at work, when planning any major project always includes a percentage of time/cost which he describes as "buggeration factor" - for those unforeseen moments when something unexpected crops up. This is always wise. Of course, calculating a sensible buggeration factor is reasonably easy at work, because we know our trade well enough to have an idea of the sort of things that are likely to unexpectedly happen. Unfortunately though, I think I have underestimated the buggeration factor involved in fitting a bathroom. By this time today I was very much hoping that I would be reporting that all my plumbing was done and I was hard at work tiling. Instead, I'm a day (that's 20%) behind schedule and still working on building partition walls. So all my buggeration factor is used up, and some. Bugger.
