Winter Wonderland

Christmas is on it's way. It must be, because at work today we had our traditional annual scrap over who is working when over the holiday period and who gets to cover New Years Eve on-call, although to be fair this year it was less of a scrap and more of a consensus, which is very strange... almost an anti-climax in fact.

The other sign of the impending arrival of Christmas here in Birmingham is the opening of the German Christmas Market. Apparently it's the largest German market outside of Germany and Austria, and it's great for two reasons: firstly, the Germans make excellent sausages, and at the market cook them on a huge barbecue style grill thing; and secondly because there are lots of stalls selling all those old fashioned kind of Christmas decorations which somehow seem more Christmassy than a plastic electronic singing Santa. Oh and you can get Gluhwein as well, which is apparently very warming in nice seasonal snowy cold weather...

...of the sort which arrived this evening! It went pretty quickly, but I am going to make a prediction that it will not be the last, nor the longest lasting, snow of this winter...
